Given:

two balls of masses m1 and m2 are thrown vertically upward with same speed u .

To Find:

if air resistance is neglected, they will pass through their point of projection in the downward direction with what speed

Solution:

As the air resistance is neglected therefore they will reach the ground at the same time , air resistance depends on the mass of the body , and air resistance is neglected therefore there is no significance of different mass.

For going up and coming down, net displacement is 0

applying equation of motion for first ball,

v² = u²+2aS

v²= u²(s=0)

v= u....................(1)

applying equation of motion for second ball,

V²=U²+2aS

V²=u²(S=0)

V=u......................(2)

from eq 1 and eq 2

we can conclude that the final velocity will be equal.

Both the balls will pass through their point of projection in the downward direction with equal  speed .
