Two balls of same size but of different material, rubber and iron, are kept on the floor of a moving train. The brakes are applied suddenly to stop the moving train. Will the balls start rolling? If so, in which direction? Will they move with the same speed? Give reason to support your answer.

Answer:

yes the balls start rolling. in forward direction because of law of inertia. no they will not move with same speed because mass of balls are different and mass is directly proportion to inertia and iron ball has greater mass than rubber so inertia is also greater . iron ball speed is lesser than rubber
