Answer:

5 km

Explanation:

Suppose Bike A and bike B are moving from point O with the velocity 60 km/hr towards north and 40 km/hr towards south respectively.

A------------O---------B

here,we have to calculate that distance between A and B

therefore,

speed of bike A= 60km/hr

speed of bike B=40km/hr

then,

speed of bike A= (60/60) km/min

= 1 km/min

because 1hr = 60min

And

speed of bike B= (40/60)km/min

= (2/3) km/min

We know that,

v (velocity)= d (distance)/ t (time)

therefore, d=v×t (we will use this formula)

then,

after 3 minutes,distance of bike A from point O

AO

= 1×3

=3 km

and

after 3 minutes, distance of a bike B from point O

OB

=(2/3)×3

=2 km

therefore, AB=AO+OB=3+2=5 km

which is required answer.
