Two blocks A and B having masses m1=1kg and m2=2kg are placed on a rough horizontal plane and connected through a string. B is connected to another string which passes over a massless frictionless pulley and connected to a mass m3. Calculate (i) the minimum value of m3 required to move the blocks and (ii) the values of T1 and T2 when m3=1kg (coefficient of friction is 0.1)

Explanation:

m1 m2 on rough surface with coeff of friction of 0.1

taking there max friction value that is 1N and 2N

total force created by them in horizontal direction is 3N

therefore mass m3 which is hanging over pull should creat 3N to move them

so weight of m3 is 3N

and mass is 0.3 kg
