So the ice cube water atoms will bond together when the cubes partly melt and are pushed close together. when you press two blocks of ice together the pressure lowers the melting point of the ice so a liquid interface forms. When the pressure is reduced the water freezes and the two blocks join

Two blocks of ice when pressed together join to form one block this happens because

Explanation:

  • The melting point of ice is lowered on increasing the pressure.
  • When two blocks of ice are pressed against each other, the pressure applied on the blocks of ice increases and the melting point increases. Thus the two blocks of ice fuse together.
  • When two ice blocks are pressed against each other, then excess pressure is applied on the ice blocks.
  • The application of pressure causes the melting point to fall below the normal melting point of ice ( 0 deg C).
  • By increasing the pressure on ice, in turn, ice water system try to counteract for it, that is, try to lower the pressure.
  • During this process, it tries to fit into smaller volume rather than in solid form and allows more solid to become liquid. This in turn lowers the melting point of ice.
