To Find : The tension in the string T1

Solution : The tension in the string T1 is 19.6 N

It is given that the two blocks of mass 4 kg and 6 kg are attached to the ends of the string passing over a pulley and the 4 kg mass is attached to the table by another string

We have to find the tension in the string T1

Now the system is in equilibrium so the force is balanced

So tension T is 6g (because the tension T is balanced by the weight of the box of 6 kg )

Again tension T is balanced by the weight of box of 4kg and tension T1

so T = 4g + T1

T1 = T - 4g

= 6g - 4g

= 2g

Take g = 9.8

So T1 = 9.8 × 2

= 19.6 N

So the tension in the string T1 is 19.6 N
