Two boats 120 km apart, start moving towards
each other at the same time. The boat on the left
is moving at twice the speed of the boat on the
right. They meet each other after 5 hours. What is
the speed of each boat?

Let the speed of the first boat be x

Then the speed of the second boat is 2x

D = S*T

120 = (x+2x) * 5

120 = 3x * 5

15x = 120

x = 8km/hr

Therefore the speed of the motorcycles is 8 and 16 km/hr respectively
