Answer:

Two bodies A and B are made to vibrate in such a way that Body A vibrates 10 times in a second and Body B vibrates 120 times in 1 minute.

To find:

Which body produces shriller sound?

How is pitch related to frequency?

Activity to show this effect.

Solution:

Frequency of body A = 10/60 = 0.16 Hz

Frequency of body B = 120/60 = 2 Hz

Since , Body B has higher frequency, it will produce a shriller (high pitched) sound than Body A.

Frequency is directly proportional to the pitch.

Higher the pitch , higher will be frequency , higher will be the shrillness of the sound.
