two bodies A and B of masses 150g and 250g respectively are approaching each other. Both particles have speed of 3m/s . Find the magnitude of total linear momentum of the system of the two particles.

solution:

We know that, p = mv

Thus,
Linear momentum for A = 0.15×3 = 0.45 kg .m /s

Linear momentum for B = 0.25×3 = 0.75 kg. m/s

we know that, momentum is vector quantity.

|A|+|B| = 0.45 + 0.75 = 1.2 kg.m/s
