Let the volume of body 1 is V1 = M1/D1
[ volume = mass/density ]
V1 = 36/9 = 4cm³
now the weight of body 1 in water W1 = M1g - V1(density of water) × g
and the weight of body 2 in water W2= M2g - V2(density of water ) × g
as the both weights balanced each other ,
=> W1 = W2
=>M1g - V1(density of water)g = M2g - V2(density of water )g
=> M1 - V1(density of water ) = M2 - V2(density of water )
density of water is 1 g/cm³
so, M1 - V1 = M2 - V2
36 - 4 = 48 - V2
32 -48 = -V2 => V2 = 16cm³
hence, density of body 2 = mass/volume
= 48/16 = 3g/cm³
