Two bodies are of mass 40kg moving in opposite direction one with a velocity 10m/s other with a velocity 7m/s. After the collision they move as a single body then find the velocity ?

mass1=40kg
mass2=40kg
initial velocity1(u1)=10m/s
intial velocity2(u2)=7m/s
final velocity(v)=xm/s(the final velocity will be same as they move as single body)
according to conservation law of motion
(m1*u1)+(m2*u2)=v(m1+m2)
(40*10)+(40*7)=x(40+40)
400+280=80x
680=80x
680/80=xm/s
8.5m/s=xm/s
final velocity=8.5m/s

40×10 +40×(-7) =80×v

400-280 =80v

120=80v

v=1.5
