Two bodies are projected with the same speed of 10 m/s. If one is projected at an angle 45° and other is at 15° with the horizontal, then the difference of their horizontal range will be (g = 10 m/s2)

Given :

Speed of the projectiles = 10 m/s

Angle of projections = 45° and 15°

The value of g = 10 m/s^2

To find :

The difference between horizontal ranges of the projectiles .

Solution :

Range of projectile , R = ( v * v * sin2θ ) / g

Now ,

difference between ranges = ( 10 * 10 * sin 2*45 ) / 10 - ( 10 * 10 * sin 2*15 ) / 10

=> difference between ranges = [ 10 * 10 * ( sin 90 - sin 30 )] /  10

=> difference between ranges = 10 * 10 * 0.5 / 10

=> difference between ranges = 5 m

The difference between horizontal ranges of the projectiles is 5 m .
