Given that,

Mass of object 1, m = 0.2 kg

Mass of object 2, m' = 0.1 kg

Initial speed of object 1, u = 0.6 m/s

Initial speed of object 2, u' = 0.4 m/s

To find,

The final velocity after the collision.

Solution,

Let V is the common velocity of the objects after the collision. Using the conservation of linear momentum such that,

mu+m'u'=(m+m')V\\\\V=\dfrac{mu+m'u'}{m+m'}\\\\V=\dfrac{0.2\times 0.6+0.1\times 0.4}{0.2+0.1}\\\\V=0.54\ m/s

So, the final velocity after the collision is 0.54 m/s.
