Two bodies of masses 4 kg and 5 kg are acted upon by the same force if the acceleration of the lighter body is 3 m / s ^2 then find the acceleration produced in heavier body. what will be the acceleration if that greater force is applied on both the bodies tied together

4*3=12 N

as the force is same

so

if they are tied together so they will behave as a single body

9*X=12

X=1.33

✦ANSWER

Let. mass of lighter body = m(1)

Let mass of heavy body = m(2)

Acceleration of the lighter. body =
3m {s}^{ - 2}

✦GIVEN

m(1)=4kg

m(2)=5kg

a(1) = 3 m {s}^{ -2}

✦PART 1 ☞

so The force which produce an acceleration in

lighter body

f = m(1)a(1)

f = 4 \times 3 = 12 \: newton

F= 12N

Now acceleration produced in heavier body
is equal. to force produce in lighter body

f(2) = f(1)

 =  > f(2) = 12 \: newton

so acceleration in heavier body is

f(2) = m(2)  \times a(2)

12 = 5 \times a(2)

a(2) =  \frac{12}{5}

a(2) = 2.4m {s}^{ - 2}

✦PART 2 ☞

NOW greater force is applied on the mass tied together .

the acceleration is equal to

 =  > a(sum \:  \: ofmasses \: ) = f(2)

 = a(m(1) + m(2)) = 12

a(4 + 5) = 12

a =  \frac{12}{9}

a = 1.33m {s}^{ - 2}
