Answer:

Explanation:

linear momentum of P = mv

linear momentum of Q = (4m)(4v) = 16mv

ratio of momentum = mv/16mv = 1/16

ratio of momentum of P and Q = 1 : 16

Inertia remains the same for the bodies.

The ratio of momentum of P to Q is 1:4.

Given:

P and Q are of the same mass = m

Velocity of p, Vp = v m/s

Velocity of q, Vq = 4v m/s

To Find:

The inertia and momentum.

Solution:

i) Inertia is the mass of the body.

Hence, Inertia remains the same for the bodies.

Ip:Iq = 1:1

ii) Momentum, p = mv

Therefore, momentum is directly proportional to velocity.

so, Pp/Pq = v/4v

                = 1/4

    Pp:Pq = 1:4

Hence, The ratio of momentum of P to Q is 1:4.
