Two boxers have to fight in a square arena of side 30 m. Four poles are stuck into the ground at the four corners of the boxing arena and a rope fence is put up around the poles to keep the spectators away . Find the length of the rope required if 2 m of the rope is used up for trying the knots ?

side of square=30m
perimeter of square=length of rope required to fence
perimeter of square=side×4=30×4=120m
therefore length of rope required to fence =120m+2m=122m

Answer: Side of square arena =30m. Perimeter of the square arena=side×4 =30×4=120. 120+2m for knots.

Ans=122m .
