Answer:

Alok received Rs.8000 as his share out of the total profit of Rs.12000 which he and Sahil earned at the end of one year. If Alok invested Rs.20,000 for 6 months, whereas Sahil invested his amount for the whole year , what was the amount invested by Sahil ?

Rs. 2,000

Rs. 1,000

Rs. 3,000

Rs. 4,000

Rs. 5,000

Option E

Ratio = 8000:4000 = 2:1

20000*6 : x*12 = 2:1

20000:2x = 2:1

20000/2x =2/1

2x = 20000*1/2

=>x = Rs. 5,000
