from the given diagram:
by pythagoras theorem,
distance between tops=(5^2+12^2)^1/2
                                =(25+144)^1/2
                                =169^1/2=13
therefore,distance b/w their tops is 13 m.

According to the given diagram

Step-by-step explanation:

In the diagram BE=CD=20m

then AC=5m

BC=ED=12cm

Pythagoras theorem says

{hypotenuse}²  =  {base}² +  {perpendicular}²

so AB²=AC²+BC²

=25+144

=169

AB=√169

AB=13m

Therefore distance between their top is 13m.
