Two buildings are 20m and 25m high. If the buildings are 12m high. If the building are 12m apart , find the distance between their tops.

The distance between the two buildings = 12 m. The difference in height of the tops of the two buildings = 25–20 = 5 m. Hence the distance between the tops of the two buildings = [12^2+5^2]^0.5 = 13 m.
