Two bulbs 60W, 220V and 40W, 220V are connected in series. Which of the bulb will glow brighter?

The 40W bulb, since it has higher resistance than the 60W bulb.

This only applies because they are connected in series. Higher the resistence, the greater the power offered by the bulb, and therefore greater brightness.
In parallel it's the opposite, the 60W bulb will glow more.
