Two bulbs of 40 W and 60 W are connected in series to an external potential difference.
Which bulb will glow brighter? Why?

The 40 Watt bulb will glow brighter and give more light because two bulbs are connected in an electrical series.


So current passing through each bulb will be the same.


The bulb that has 40 Watt has higher resistance and it dissipates more power than the other one. So it will glow brighter.
