Since they started travelling in opposite direction then relative speed will be (50+60) = 110 km/h

Distance be 440 k m

Time = distance/speed

= 440/110 = 4 hours

Answer: After 4 hours they are 440 km apart.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let after t hours the buses are apart 440 km,

Since, the speed of first bus = 50 km/h

⇒ The distance covered by first bus in t hours = 50 t ( Distance = speed × time)

And, the speed of second bus = 60 km/h

⇒ The distance covered by second bus =  60 t

Thus, if they are 440 km apart after t hours

⇒ 50 t + 60 t = 440

⇒ 110 t = 440

⇒ t = 4

Hence, after 4 hours they are 440 km apart.
