Given :-

◉ Two candidates fought an election. One of them got 55% of the total votes and won by 432 votes.

To Find :-

◉ Total number of votes polled.

Solution :-

Let the total number of votes be x.

We are given that candidate A got 55% of x votes and candidate B got x - 55% of x.

But, It is given that candidate A won by 432 votes. which means the difference of votes they got is 432.

So, We have

⇒ Candidate A's votes - Candidate B's votes = 432

Because, Candidate A won by 432 votes, Then He/She had have got more votes than the other.

⇒ ( 55% of x ) - (x - 55% of x) = 432

⇒ 55x/100 - (x - 55x/100) = 432

⇒ 55x/100 - 45x/100 = 432

⇒ 10x/100 = 432

x = 4320

But, We assumed the total votes polled x.

Total Votes Polled = 4320

Given:-

<font color= red>

☞Total number of votes polled 1800

Step-by-step explanation:

☞Let the total vote polled be X

<font color= pink>

SOLUTION:-

<font color= orange>

☞One candidate got votes = 62% of X =

(62/100) xX= 0.62X

☞Thus, the other candidate got =X-0.62X =

0.38X votes

☞The first candidate won by 432 votes

☞Therefore,

0.62X-0.38X = 432

or, 0.24X = 432

or, X = 432/0.24 = 1800
