Two capillaries LM and MN are joined end to end at M. Length LM is 0.16 m and
its diameter is 4 x 10-3 m. Length of MN is 0.04 m and its diameter is 2 x 10-3
The composite tube is held horizontally with L connected to a vessel of water having
constant head of 0.3 m. N is open to the atmosphere. Calculate the pressure at M.

Answer:

Two capillary tubes AB and BC are joined end to end at B, AB is 16cm long and of diameter 4mm whereas BC is 4cm long and of diameter 2mm. The composite tube is held horizontally with A connected to a vessel of water giving a constant head of 3cm and C is openn to the air. Calculate the pressure difference between B and C.
