Answer:

1) 44 km , 2) 94 km

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Speed of Car A = 60 km/hr

Speed of Car B = 80 km /hr

Firstly let us find the distance than can be  travelled by both car in 18 minutes

Time = 18 minutes = 18/60 hr  = 3/10 hr

Distance travelled by Car A = Speed × Time

                                               = 60 × 3/10

                                               = 6 × 3

                                               = 18 km.

Distance travelled by Car B = Speed × Time

                                              = 80 × 3/10

                                              = 8 × 3

                                              = 24 km.

Now,

1) If they move in same direction,

In this case Car B will reduce the distance between them.

Reduced distance = 24 - 18

                               = 6 km

Thus total distance = 50 - 6

                                = 44 km

2) If they move in opposite direction

In this case distance between both cars will increase.

Increased Distance = 24 + 18

                                 = 44 km

Thus total distance = 50 + 44

                                = 94 km

Question:-

  • Two cars A and B are kept 50 km apart . the car A Travels at 60 km/hr and the car B Travels at 80 km/hr. find the distance between the two cars after 18 minutes , if

To Find:-

  • Find the distance between two cars.

Solution:-

First ,

We have to find the distance travelled by car A:-

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Distance = Speed \times Time

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Distance = 60 \times \dfrac { 3 } { 10 }

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Distance = 6 \times 3

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Distance = 18 \: kmph

Now ,

We have to find the distance travelled by car B:-

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Distance = Speed \times Time

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Distance = 80 \times \dfrac { 3 } { 10 }

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Distance = 8 \times 3

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Distance = 24 \: kmph

Now ,

Distance reduced between them:-

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Distance \: travelled \: by \: B - A

\dashrightarrow\sf \: 24 - 8

\dashrightarrow\sf \: 6 \: km

  • Total distance is 50 - 6 = 44 km.

Now ,

Both the cars move in opposite directions:-

\dashrightarrow\sf \: 24 + 18

  • Total distance = 50 + 44 = 94 km
