Relative velocity vab= va-vb
Vab= 80kmph-50kmph
Vab= 30kmph
Value is positve so the relative velocity of car in the directn of velocity of car a

Two cars A and B are moving along in a straight line.Car A is moving at a speed of 80kmph while car B is moving at a speed 50kmph in the same direction, find the magnitude and direction of

the relative velocity of car A with respect to B

According to question we have to find the relative velocity of A with respect to B  and relative velocity of B with respect to A
taking the formula when both bodies are moving along same direction we have
VAB =  VA -  VB  =  80 - 50  =30 km/hr
hence the velocity of carA with respect to carB is 30 km/hr in same direction.
now relative velocity of B with respect to A   is
VBA =  VB -  VA  =  50- 80   =  -30 km/hr
 hence the velocity of carB with respect to carA is 30 km/hr in opposite direction .
