Given,

Speed of car A = v

Speed of car B = v

To find,

The magnitude of the speed of A with respect to B

Solution

The velocity of car A (vA) = vj since it is moving with a speed of v in the north direction.

The velocity of car B (vB) = vi since it is moving with a speed of v in the east direction.

Thus, vA-vB = vj-vi

= \sqrt{2}v

Hence, the magnitude of A with respect to B will be \sqrt{2}v.
