Car A and Car B will meet mid-way (50 Km) between Ludhiana and Chandigarh or 30 minutes after they start

Explanation:

Given: Two cars A and B left Ludhiana for Chandigarh at the same time. Car A for the first half of the path traveled at a speed of 120 km/h and the second half of the path at a speed of 80 km/h. Car B traveled at a speed of 120 km/h for first half of the time and at a speed of 80 km/h for the second half of the time.

Find: When they will meet

Solution:

A and B are traveling in opposite direction. Assuming distance between Ludhiana and Chandigarh is 100 Km.

Car A & B:

Travels 50 Km at 120 Km/h and 50 Km at 80 Km/h

Time taken = distance / speed = 50 / 120  and 50 / 80 = 5 / 12 hr + 5 / 8 hr = 10 + 15 / 24 = 25/24 = 1 hour.

Both  cars will cover the whole distance in 1 hour.

Car A and Car B will meet mid-way (50 Km) between Ludhiana and Chandigarh as they are traveling at the same speed at any given time. They will meet after 30 minutes of their travel.
