Two cars A and B start from P with uniform speed and reach Q. The total time taken by both the cars is 10 hour. If A starts from P and B starts from Q, then they meet at a point in between P and Q in 2h 24min. If the distance between P and Q is 360 km, then find the difference in speed of the cars (in kmph):

Answer:

10√7 kmph

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi,

Let the speed of car A be 'V₁'

Let the speed of car A be 'V₂' and also let V₁ > V₂.

Given the distance between P and Q is 360 km.

Now, given that if both the cars stat from P and reach Q, then total time

taken is 10 hours.

=> 360/V₁ + 360/V₂ = 10

=> (V₁ + V₂)/V₁V₂ = 1/36------(*)

Given that, if A starts from P and B starts from Q, they meet at a point in 2h 24 min = 2 + 24/60 hr = 12/5 hour

=> 12V₁/5 + 12V₂/5 = 360

=> V₁ + V₂ = 150--------(**)

Using (*) and (**), we get

V₁V₂ = 5400------(***)

(V₁ - V₂)² = ( V₁ + V₂)² - 4V₁V₂ = 150² - 21800 = 700

=> V₁ - V₂ = 10√7 kmph

Hope, it helped !
