Distance between the two cars  one and a half minute before their collision is 55 km.

Explanation:

Given:

Two cars are 60 km away from each other.

Two cars moving towards each other at 16 km per hour and 184 km per hour.

To Find:

The distance they from each other one and a half minute before their collision.

Solution:

Let  velocity of car 1st is p km/hr and  velocity of car 2nd is q km/hr.

As given,Two cars moving towards each other at 16 km per hour and 184 km per hour.

p=16 km per hour  and  q=184 km per hour

Therefore, their net velocity of approach R= p+q

                                                                        =16+184=200 km\ per\ hour

Time in  one and a half minute T =1.5\ minute

                                                       =0.025\ hour

Distance covered by this  net velocity =R\times T=200\times0.025

                                                                   =5km

As give, two cars are 60 km away from each other.

Initial distance between two cars= 60 km

Distance between the two cars  one and a half minute before their collision=Initial distance between two cars- Distance covered by this  net velocity

             =60-5\\

             =55km

Thus, distance between the two cars  one and a half minute before their collision is 55km.
