Distance traveled by each car is same in the same time.

s = u t + 1/2 a t^2
So. 4 t + 1/2 * 1 * t^2 = 2 t + 1/2 * 2* t^2
So t = 0 or t = 4 sec.
Distance = 2*4 + 1/2 * 2 *4^2
= 24 meters
