suppose the distance be d km.the then let the time taken by the second car be=d/108 hrs and by the first car=d/60hrs. then we have,

d/60-d/108=2hrs=>d(1/60-1/108)=2
=>d(9-5/540)=2.
=>d(1/135)=2
=>d=270km.
hence the distance between the two cities is 270km

Answer:

270 km

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the distance between the City A and City B

Car 1 Case:

Distance =x

Speed of Car 1 = 60 km/hr

Time =\frac{Distance}{Speed}

Time =\frac{x}{60}

Car 2 Case:

Distance =x

Speed of Car 2 = 108 km/hr

Time =\frac{Distance}{Speed}

Time =\frac{x}{108}

Now we are given that one car takes 2 hours lesser time than the other car for the journey

So, \frac{x}{60}-\frac{x}{108}=2

\frac{x}{135}=2

x=135 \times 2

x=270

Hence the distance between City A and City B is 270 km.
