two cells of emf 4v and 2v and internal resistances 2ohm and 1ohm respectivly are connected in parallel so as to send the current in tge same direction though an external resistance of 10ohm . find the potential difference across 10ohm resistor.

Answer:when cells are connected in parallel

E =E1 x R2 + E2 x R1 / R1 + R2

So E = 4 x 1 + 2 x 2 / 1+2

= 8/3 V

Internal resistance= 2 x 1/2+1= 2/3

Potential= E x R/R+r

= 8/3 x 10 / 10+ 8/3

= 80/38= 2.1 V
