Two chimneys 16m and 13m high stand upright on a ground. If their feet are 4m apart, then find the distance between their tops

at the top of 13m chimney the perpendicular distance will still be 4m and on 16m chimney only 3m of top will be left from 13m perpendicular level

so a right angled triangle is formed with base = 4m and height = 3m ..just visualize it yourself

then hypotenuse = distance between the tops

so h^2 = perpendicualr^2 + base^2

h^2 = 3^2 + 14^2

h^2 = 9+16

h^2 = 25

h = 25 ^ 1/2

h = 5m

so the distance between the tops of chimneys is 5m
