SOLUTION

GIVEN

Two circle of radii 8.2 and 3.6cm touch each other

TO DETERMINE

The distance between their centers

(i) touch internally

(ii) touch externally

EVALUATION

Here it is given that two circle of radii 8.2 and 3.6cm touch each other

(i) If the two circles touch internally

Then the distance between their centers

= Radii of Bigger circle - Radii of smaller circle

= 8.2 cm - 3.6 cm

= 4.6 cm

(ii) If the two circles touch externally

Then the distance between their centers

= Radii of Bigger circle + Radii of smaller circle

= 8.2 cm + 3.6 cm

= 11.8 cm
