Sample space S={(H,H),(H,T),(T,H),(T,T)}

Number of sample space n(S)=4

D= getting no head

D={(T,T)}

n(D)=1

Given Data: 2 coins.

To Find: Sample space S and number of sample points.

Solution:

  • Probability is defined as the outcome for an event.
  • For example, In a coin there is Head and a Tail. Probability of getting an head is 1. There are two outcomes so getting an head is \frac{1}{2}.
  • Sample space is the collection of outcomes.
  • Similarly for 2 coins the Possibilities are {HH} - 2 Heads, {HT} - One Head and a Tail, {TH} - One tail and a Head, {TT} - Two tails.
  • The Sample space S = {HH, HT, TH, TT}. n(s) = 4.
  • Probability of getting at least is {HH, HT, TH} = 3 ;  \frac{3}{4} .
