Answer: A. 1/4

Solution:

let, T represent the tail and H represent the head.

S be the sample space

when two coins tossed the sample space will be

S = { HH, HT, TH ,TT}

so, n(S) = 4

If Y represents the number of tails

then, P( Y = 1) = 1/4

when four coins are tossed the sample space will be

S = { HHHH, HHHT, HHTH, HTHH, THHH, HHTT, HTHT, THHT, TTHH, HTTH, THTH, HTTT, THTT, TTHT, TTTH,TTTT }

n(S) = 16

If X represents the number of heads

P(X = 2) = 6/16 = 3/8
