7x+8x= 90 (measure of two complementary angles)
15x= 90 (added the terms 7x and 8x)
x=90÷15
x=6

The angles are 42° and 48°

Given :

Two complementary angles are in the ratio 7 : 8

To find :

The angles

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Form the equation

Here it is given that two complementary angles are in the ratio 7 : 8

Let the angles are 7x and 8x

We know that two angles are said to be complementary if sum of the angles = 90°

So by the given condition

7x + 8x = 90°

Step 2 of 2 :

Find the angles

7x + 8x = 90°

⇒ 15x = 90°

⇒ x = 90°/15

⇒ x = 6°

First angle = 7x = 42°

Second angle = 8x = 48°
