We know that  

Sum of measures of two complementary angles= 90

⟹x+y=90.....(i)

But we are given x−y=20.....(ii)

2x=110     [On comparing (i) and (ii)]

⟹x=55

Now, x+y=90

⟹y=90−x

⟹y=90−55=35
