AB= 8 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Here OC is the radius and AB is the tangent to the smaller circle.

Hence OC is perpendicular bisector of AB.

In triangle OCB,

   {CB}  ^{2}  =   {OB}^{2}   -  {OC}^{2} \\  =  {5}^{2}  -  {3}^{2}  \\  = 16 \\ CB = 4cm \\

AB =2 x CB

= 2 x 4 = 8cm
