Let the two forces be X, Y

So, maximum resultant given is 45N.

Now we also know that we can get maximum resultant when both the forces are added \Rightarrow X+Y=45

And minimum resultant given is 5N, we also know that minimum resultant is achieved from the difference \Rightarrow X-Y=5

Solving both the equations,

                                    X=45-Y substituting this in other equation  \Rightarrow 45-Y-Y=5  \Rightarrow 2Y=40  \Rightarrow Y=20 and X= 25.
