Two conducting wires of the same material and of equal lengths and equal diameter are first connected in series and then parallel in a circuit across the same potential difference. The ratio of heat produced in series and parallel combination would be? 1) 2) 3) 4) 1:2 2:1 1:4 4:1

Answer:

Resistance in series=2r

Resistance in parallel =1/(1/r+1/r)=r/2

Heat produced is proportional to (resistance)^2

Heat in series/heat in parallel=(2r)^2/(r/2)^2

=4r^2/{(r^2)/4}=16:1
