Let the first integer be x and let the 2nd integer be x + 1

Given, their sum = 79

According to the question,

x + x + 1 = 79

2x + 1 = 79

2x = 79 - 1

2x = 78

x = \dfrac{78}{2}

x = 39

First integer = x = 39

Second integer = x + 1 = 39 + 1 = 40
