Two consecutive members of a homologous series have a difference of -
CH2 in molecular formula. Take an example from Alkenes and explain this property

In the above image we can see that we have cancelled the compounds and only CH2 remains which tells the difference between them

The two examples from Alkene group are

Ethene and Propene

Ethene : C 2 H 4

Propene : C 3 H 6

Both of them are differ by CH2
