Define x:

Let one number be x.

The other number is x + 3

.

Form equation:

x + (x + 3) = 51

.

Solve x:

x + (x + 3) = 51

x + x + 3 = 51

2x + 3 = 51

2x = 48

x = 24

.

Find the number:

one number = x = 24

other number = x + 3 = 24 + 3 = 27

.

Answer: The numbers are 24 and 27
