According to the laws of hydrostatics and pressure, the pressure felt at the bottoms of both containers a and b should be the same.

The pressure at the bottom is given by the formula:

P = p x g x h

Where,

 P = Pressure

P = Density

g = Gravity

h = Height of liquid

The pressure due to a liquid at a height h above the base, is independent of the base area of the container. Since both a and b are filled up to the same height, they will experience equal pressures.
