X:Y =1:4 BECAUSE LENGTH OF WIRE Y IS 4 TIMES THE LENGTH OF X AND RESISTANCE IS DIRECTLY PROPORTIONAL TO THE LENGTH OF CONDUCTOR

let say wire X has

Area = A1

Length = L1

Volume = A1 × L1

R1 = Resistance

wire Y has

Area = A2

Length = L2

Volume = A2×L2

Resistance = R2

A1× L1 = A2 × L2

L2 = 4L1 given in question

L2/L1 =4

A1 × L1 = A2 × 4× L1

A1 = 4A2

A1/A2 =4

R1 = (row) × L1/A1

R2 = (row) × L2/A2

R2/R1 = (L2/L1)/(A2/A1)

R2/R1 = (L2/L1)×(A1/A2)

R2/R1 = 4 × 4

R2/R1 = 16/1

R2 : R1 :: 16:1

resistance ratio of wires.

wireY : Wire X ::16:1
