Given : two cross roads 2.5m wide has constructed in the middle of the garden crossing each other at right angle running parallel to the sides of 35m long and 20m wide.

To Find  : the cost of constructing the roads at the rate of 100 rupees per sq.m

Solution:

Area of road parallel to 35 m    = 35 * 2.5

Area of road parallel to 20 m  = 20 * 2.5

Intersecting area of roads = 2.5 x 2.5

Total  Area of road  = 35 * 2.5   + 20 * 2.5  - 2.5 * 2.5

= 2.5 ( 35 + 20 - 2.5)

= 2.5 ( 52.5)  m²

rate of 100 rupees per sq.m

Cost =  100 x = 2.5 ( 52.5)

= 25 x 525

= 13125  Rs
