Given : two cross roads 2.5m wide have been constructed in the middle of garden crossing of each other at right angle running parallel to sides of garden 35m

To Find :  Area of roads

remaining area of the garden

Solution:

Area of garden = 35 x 35  =  1225  m²

area of a road = 35 * 2.5  = 87.5 m²

area of another road = 35 * 2.5  = 87.5 m²

Common area of both roads = 2.5 x 2.5  = 6.25 m²

Area of both roads = 87.5 + 87.5 - 6.25

=  175 - 6.25

= 168.75  m²

remaining area of the garden  =   1225 -  168.75

= 1,056.25 m²
