Solution : -

Length of each side of cubes = 12cm

Now, two cubes are joined end to end

So, the Length of resulting cuboid will be = 12+12 = 24cm

But the Breadth and Height will remain same

So, Breadth = 12cm and Height = 12 cm


Total surface area of resulting cuboid
$= 2(lb + bh + hl) \\ \\ = 2(24 \times 12 + 12 \times 12 + 12 \times 24) \\ \\ = 2(288 + 144 + 288) \\ \\ = 2(720) \\ \\ = 2 \times 720 \\ \\ = 1440$

Hence, total surface area of resulting cuboid = 1440cm square
